The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Alector

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Director & Member of Scientific Advisory Board, Richard Scheller, for US$228k worth of shares, at about US$5.16 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$1.44). So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. From our data, it seems that Alector insiders own 6.2% of the company, worth about US$8.8m. Overall, this level of ownership isn't that impressive, but it's certainly better than nothing!

What Might The Insider Transactions At Alector Tell Us?

Insiders haven't bought Alector stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And there weren't any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. When you consider that most companies have higher levels of insider ownership, we're a little wary. We'd certainly practice some caution before buying! So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing.
