Shares of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) rose sharply in today's pre-market trading following better-than-expected quarterly results.

Ericsson reported quarterly earnings of 11 cents per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 8 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $6.110 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $5.719 billion.

Ericsson shares jumped 8.9% to $8.21 in the pre-market trading session.
